Meet Pamela Kavanagh!
Pamela Kavanagh has been riding since the age of ten and saved up to buy her first horse, Shamrock, who was a handful but turned out a winner. She went on to break and school ponies for saddle and for driving, and also bred Welsh Section As and Shetlands for the showing ring. Her favourite pony was Poppy, a dun mare who taught both her children to ride and took them on family picnics in the governess cart. She became involved with Pony activities with her daughter’s two ponies, Taffy and Zsar, two great characters who were a source of inspiration for the Chantley series of pony books.
A primary school teacher for many years, she now writes full time and particularly enjoys weaving stories for young people of other countries. She bred and showed Cairn Terriers and trained Border Collies for obedience and sheep work. Her hobbies are spinning, gardening, playing the flute and listening to music. She lives in Wales with Tammy, a mischievous Cairn and Celyn the Collie, and is currently breaking in a Welsh Cob for riding and driving.
