Meet Gill Morrell!
Gill Morrell was born near London and grew up longing to ride, reading pony books and drawing ponies all the time. She didn’t actually learn to ride, however, till she was a student, when she went on a two week pony trekking holiday in Scotland that gave a lot of the inspiration for The Pony Vacation and The Pony Trek. As an adult, she has always lived in the country, now near the beautiful city of Bath, and took up riding again when her three children started lessons at a local stable.
Although she doesn’t own a horse, she’s had a series of cats and dogs; the latest are an elegant tortoiseshell called Daisy and a galumphing Old English Sheepdog, Paddy. She divides her time between writing, teaching adults to speak English and directing plays in Bath, and she’s always on the lookout for interesting stories about horses to include in her next book.
Gill’s now working on an adult novel and planning a new series of pony books for next year to follow on from Jess’s adventures!
