Cutting Ahead

Dear Stella,

There is a girl in my riding lesson who is new and she continues to move her horse straight in front of my horse. I don’t want to say anything but it is making me mad and she causes my horse to act up. What should I do?

Dear Frustrated,

Your horse must get so scared. I know I would be. I would kindly ask the new girl to move her horse away from yours a little. You could even say he’s sensitive to other horses (which he probably is). Make sure you smile when you ask her politely so it’s easier for her to take the criticism. She might just be nervous and not 100% comfortable with what she’s doing. If that doesn’t work, please talk to your instructor about the problem.

Love, Stella

A girl does the same thing to me. I go to her and say,”Can I please have just a little more room? My horse does not like being this close.” I say that with a little smile and when she does it I say,”Thanks.” The next day I give her a apple to feed her horse as a little thanks.

Talk to her or your instructor.
