Comfy Blanket

BlanketThe only seams you’ll need to sew for this blanket are the ones keeping the velcro in place.  You’ll need a lot of fleece, though, depending on the size of your horse…

Materials you’ll need:

  • Fleece of any color.  See below for how much fabric is needed.
  • Velcro
  • Sewing thread

Useful tools:

  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine

Here’s how:

  • Measure your horse, from the middle of the neck to the tail.  This is how much fabric you’ll need
  • Fold the fabric along the middle and cut according to the pattern below (use the second of the two templates, the horse template is there in case you want to cut out horse shapes and sew them onto your blanket); you should be cutting through both layers
  • Pin the velcro at the neck of the blanket
  • Use a sweing machine to sew on the velcro
  • If you’d like, decorate the blanket with other shapes (such as the horse shape below). Cut shapes out of different colored fabric and sewn on!

        I never thought of making my own… they are always either too big or too small for my horse.

      I don’t have a horse, but i can make one for my toy horse! It is 13 inches high 3.1 Hands lol. I might get a horse in the spring!

    horsegirl do you have a horse. i have a horse hre name is blossom . she is a Thoroughbred .she is a good horse. BLOOSOM!

      I’d like to make the blanket for my horse….. if she needed one!!!! her name’s Princess, she’s a white miniature horse. cant ride her, but im getting a riding horse this summer so yea. never going to sell Princess, though. EVER!!!!

    I think this would be a cool thing to make.I just think that I will be pretty embaresed going up to my riding lesson horse I mpy and mesuring her.Hey!,by the way Pony writters do you think you can email me directions on how to make a personolized english saddle pad?

    I love this blanket because thiis is a lot cheaper then buying a horse blanket from the feed store which cost like $1,ooo!
