Western saddle – saddle designed for a cowboy’s horse, to carry all his belongings, from food to bedroll, with a high cantle at the back and a horn at the front, which was used for roping cattle. The stirrups are made of wood, and may be covered with leather. The cinch (girth in English riding) is made from woven hair or cord. Western saddles are much heavier than English-style saddles.
