Question of the Month: No Horse

As you all know, PONY’s for both horse owners and horse dreamers alike, and we try very hard to make our books and gifts useful and fun for everyone. But just  the other day I was thinking about how our Question of the Month posts may be more popular among horse-owners … and we don’t want those of you without a horse to feel neglected! It may seem sometimes like you’re the only person in the world who doesn’t have a horse, but I promise you’re not. Really loving horses but having to do without isn’t always easy, and to top off not having a horse, all kinds of complicated feelings like jealousy can arise. This month we’re tackling the question of how to deal with this tough issue – and this one’s especially for you PONY members out there without a horse.

Dear PONY,

I have a friend who goes to ride horses at her uncle’s farm, but I don’t. I love horses but do not have one, even though I really wish I did. My friend just makes me feel bad. Now I don’t know what to do! Please tell me what to do!

From, Megan F.

I have wanted a horse for soooo long! I take lessons once or twice a week… and help out at the barn every once and a while.

Hey, me too! Cheer up though. Getting a horse depends on how much money you have, how much land you have, how much you know about taking care of horses, and if you have the time. If you live in the city, getting a horse might not be the best option for you unless you have the money to board the horse in a stable.

If you dont have one of these, dont worry! You dont need to own a horse to be around one. You could volunteer at a local stable or offer to help your friend/neighbor out with her horse. You could also take riding lessons like I do. If you do have all the following, but just arent ready, maybe go in horse lessons for a year until you’re experienced enough for a horse.

But anyways, best of luck with wherever happens!!!!! :)

Ya, I’m almost 11 but I’ve been begging since I was 7. How about having the question “How did you get the horse bug?” I have a very unusual story.
