Craft of the Month: Horseshoe Cake!
Mm, just looking at this picture makes me drool. Yep, that’s right, for the second time in a row, this month’s craft was inspired by summer’s delicious fresh fruits … But really, can you blame us? I mean, just take another look at the picture to the left! YUM!
These instructions are a little bit longer than normal, though, so now let’s get to it:
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 stick of butter
- 1 and 1/4 cup of flour
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar
- Strawberries
- Kiwis
- Whipped cream
Tools:
- Bowl
- Knife
- Ring Mold Cake Pan
- Spatula
- Hand-held electric mixer
- Saucepan
Here’s How:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Combine eggs, vanilla, and sugar in a bowl and whip on high speed until blended; put aside
- Melt the butter in a saucepan and add 1/2 cup of water, allow to boil
- Add the butter to the egg, vanilla, sugar mix and continue to whip until fluffy; put aside
- Mix all dry ingredients together
- Sift the dry ingredients into the wet batter
- Pour the batter into a greased cooking pan
- Bake for approx. 40 minutes
- Once the cake is done, take it out of the oven and leave to cool for at least one hour
- Cut about a one-fourth section of the cake away (so the cake is now a horseshoe shape – don’t worry, you can still eat this part of the cake too!)
- Cover the cake in whipped cream, and sprinkle powdered sugar over it (optional)
- Slice strawberries and kiwis
- Decorate the cake with the strawberries and kiwis as you wish!
- Refridgerate for one hour and then EAT!
