Craft of the Month: Pretty Stable Broom

Do you want to have the coolest broom ever in your stable? Then keep reading! You’ll get the best result if you use an unpainted broom. You can find good brooms at hardware stores and supermarkets. There are special paints made for outdoor use; they’re hard-wearing and good, but you can use regular emulsion paint as well.

Materials you’ll need:

• A broom to paint

• Red, orange and green paint

• Black permanent marker

• Paper for a pattern

Useful tools:

• Stencil brush

• Small pointed paintbrush

Here’s how:

1 Paint the broom. You’ll probably have to paint it twice so the paint covers completely. Let it dry before you continue.

2 Trace the small carrot from the pattern pages to a piece of paper.

3 Place the template on the broom and trace the outlines. This broom has a carrot on each side of the handle.

4 Paint the carrot with orange paint and let it

dry. Repeat if needed.

5 Make a few simple green lines to look like tops on the carrot.

6 Also decorate with spots, smaller on the brush itself and bigger on the handle. Use the stencil brush to make them.
