P.R.E – Pura Raza Espanola
One of the most ancient breeds, the Andalusian is also known as the “Pura Raza Espanola,” which means “pure bred Spanish.” The Iberian Peninsula, part of which is now Spain, was the homeland of the Iberian Horse, which was hailed as the best war horse in the days of the Romans and Greeks. Named for the Andalucia region of Spain, the Andalusian traces it heritage to these courageous horses of old. Known for their elegant way of going, they are used for bull fighting and high level classical equitation. Andalusians have played a part in the development of many of the world’s breeds.
Conformation:
Well-made head with slightly convex profile, wide forehead and large, almond-shaped eyes. Thick, arched, powerful neck. Deep, broad chest. Strong, sloping shoulder. Short, strong back. Rounded, sloping croup. Powerful, muscular hindquarters. Low-set tail. Strong, slender legs with good joints. Hard hooves.

Temperament:
Bold and spirited, yet gentle and easy-going.
