Tennessee Walking Horse

Recognized as an official breed in 1947, this horse bears the name of its home state. Breeders wanted a horse that was both stylish and comfortable for riding. The breed is known for three distinct gaits: the flat walk, the running walk, and the “rocking chair” canter.
Conformation:
The horse has a long neck, long sloping shoulder, a long sloping hip, a fairly short back and short, strong coupling.
Characteristics:
These horses are generally black, chestnut, sorrel, bay or champagne.
Temperament:
Calm and easygoing.
